Daily Sun (April 2 2014) - SARAH swears she has no idea who her mystery caller is. He tells her he loves her - but he is destroying her life. SHE LIVES IN FEAR OF THE CALLER . . . AND SHE ALSO FEARS HER ANGRY BOYFRIEND.
"I don't want to die because of someone I don't know," said Sarah Aphane (28) from Benoni, Ekurhuleni.
She said she's been faithful to her boyfriend for 11 years.
"I love him and I've never cheated on him. We even have a child together," said Sarah. "But the last time this man phoned my boyfriend pulled out an okapi knife. He dragged me to a field where he beat and me threatened to kill me."
Sarah works as a cashier at a clothing store.
Sarah says her caller said his name is Brian.
During the calls he tells her he loves her very much and her life with her boyfriend is over because she belongs with him.
"He keeps telling me he loves me and he knows things about me that only people close to me know," Sarah said.
She said she went to lay a charge against the man she knows only as Brian the day after her boyfriend hit her.
"I went to Actonville Police Station in Benoni," she said.
"I want the police to find out who this Brian is."
But at the cop shop the warrant officer she spoke to wouldn't lay a charge or have the calls traced.
"He said the only way to have the calls traced is if this Brian guy kills me," said Sarah.
Richard Mazibuko (31), Sarah's boyfriend, refuses to believe Sarah when she says she doesn't know who the caller is.
"It's hard to believe her. This man keeps calling. He obviously knows her," said Richard.
"I know it is wrong of me to hit her but it makes me so angry when this man calls."
He said he is sorry that he attacked her and he wouldn't do it again. "But she needs to tell me if she has someone else so I can leave her alone," he said.
Cop spokesman Captain Mack Mngomezulu said, "A case of intimidation can be opened in this case and the calls can be traced.
"No one needs to die before we take action."
The captain then called the number Brian uses to call Sarah from and a man who answered to the name of Brian answered.
He claimed to be from Limpopo and was asked to come to the police station, which he agreed to do.
"If he fails to report to this police station he will have to answer," said Mngomezulu.
