941. Mrs A Steyn (DA) to ask the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform:
(1) What is the current turnaround time for documents to be processed by each deeds office in each province;
(2) whether his department prescribes any specific time for a document to be processed; if not, why not; if so, what is the prescribed turnaround time;
(3) whether any backlogs exist in any deeds office; if so, (a) what is the reason for the backlogs, (b) what is currently being done to resolve this situation and (c) when will the backlogs be cleared? NW1059E

(2) Yes. The Department's Strategic Plan for 2010-2013 prescribed the turnaround times as seven (7) days from lodgement until examination is completed and fifteen (15) days after registration until registered deeds/ documents are delivered.
