We demand our outstanding salaries of July and August to be paid immediately, says Committee
1. Letter to ANC staff on the non-payment of salaries:
25 August 2021
ANC MEMBERS OF STAFF
Dear Comrades
Re: PAYMENT OF JULY AND AUGUST 2021 SALARIES
This is to indicate that we are not yet in a position to pay outstanding salaries for July 2021. Unfortunately, August 2021 salaries, due on the 25th of this month, are also delayed. I do regret the hardship and the uncertainty that this cause staff and their families, and this is deeply regrettable.
-->
The ANC over the first fourteen months, despite the challenges of the pandemic and a challenging economic situation, has kept its commitment to staff to pay full salaries each month, albeit late. This is the first time that we are delayed with three months of payments.
We appreciate the commitment and dedication of ANC staff, who despite these difficulties, diligently serve their organisation.
We will continue to communicate on this matter as information becomes available.

STATEMENT OF THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS STAFF MEMBERS ON DETERIORATING WORKING CONDITIONS
As workers of the African National Congress in all of its offices throughout the nine province, we have been forced to take a difficult decision of downing tools with effect from Thursday, 26 August 2021. This is due to the hard-line attitude taken by management to continously disregard concerns raised by staff members during a nationwide picket held in June this year. Management made numerous undertakings, both verbally and in writting, to adress some of our demands by end of August 2021. However the appalling conditions of employment continue unabated. Our demands are as follows :
-->
Demands
1.(a) We demand that the National Political Leaders intervene and deal with the problem of staff on an urgent basis.
2.(b) We demand that all employees who have been with the organisation for more than 18 months to be deemed to be permanently employed.
3.(c) We demand our outstanding salaries of July and August to be paid immediately.
(d)All contributions owed to the provident fund and UIF must also be paid by immediately.
(e) The employer (ANC) must in writing commit to the demands above but also must indicate that their commitment is binding and as such an award that can be enforced through labour relations act processes.
We are unfortunately forced to take action against this glorious movement of Oliver Tambo at the time when the movement politically is faced with numerous challenges. South African economy is experiencing an economic crisis manifested in the collapse of the rate in investment, economic growth, as well as the further deterioration of the standard of living of the majority of South Africans. This unfortunate situations has not spared us the workers of the ANC.

The increase of petrol, electricity and basic needs is affecting us and more so our families. We have tried to sustain this situation but it is not sustainable anymore. It is totally unacceptable that we have been made scapegoats for the organisations financial mismanagement. As workers of this organisation we have served the ANC with outmost dedication in ensuring that it executes the tasks of the National Democratic Revolution [NDR] and as such must be treated with dignity by the organisation. We call on all fellow staff members AND members of the organisation to rally behind this action.

ANC STATEMENT ON INDUSTRIAL STRIKE BY ITS STAFF
The ANC management has received notice from ANC staff that as from tomorrow, 26 August 2021 they will go on strike in support of grievances submitted on 15 June 2021, including late payments of salaries.
As a result of this wildcat strike, ANC offices throughout the country will be closed as of tomorrow. The ANC management will continue to engage with staff representatives on their grievances, with a view to find a solution, so that we can resume normal operations.
