Appointment of racist Roman Cabanac a slap in the face – EFF

Fighters say this is a clear affirmation of what DA represents — a bastion for white supremacist ideologies

EFF statement on Steenhuisen’s appointment of racist Roman Cabanac

28 August 2024

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is not shocked, but disgusted, by the appointment of the notorious anti-Black racist and anti-Semitic Roman Cabanac by John Steenhuisen, the so-called leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) and current Minister of Agriculture. This move is yet another slap in the face to the millions of Black South Africans and a clear affirmation of what the DA truly represents—a bastion for white supremacist ideologies and contempt for the very people of this nation.

Cabanac's vile history of spreading hate and division is no secret as he has, time and again, made his disdain for Black people abundantly clear. The DA is a breeding ground for racists, and Cabanac is just the latest manifestation of this deep-seated bigotry. The DA's recent appointment of another racist, Renaldo Gouws as Member of Parliament already highlighted and further solidified their commitment to a racially exclusive agenda, in line with their leaders Helen Zille and Tony Leon.

This betrayal by the ANC, who has crawled into bed with the DA, is the ultimate act of treason against the people of South Africa. By aligning themselves with these racists, the ANC has shown that they have completely abandoned their mandate to uplift the oppressed and have instead chosen to protect the interests of the very oppressors who seek to keep Black people in perpetual servitude.

The people of South Africa should take note: the ANC and the DA are two sides of the same coin, both complicit in the systemic racism that continues to plague our society.

The ANC's desperate attempts to cling to power by any means necessary have only strengthened the hand of those who despise the majority of this country.

The EFF calls on all South Africans to unite in rejecting these puppets of white supremacy. The ANC's abysmal 40% showing in the last elections should be a clarion call for us all. If we are to reclaim our dignity and build a nation that truly serves its people, we must decisively vote out both the ANC and the DA. Only then can we move toward a future where every South African is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
