ActionSA welcomes arrests in Soweto boys’ murder following our R50 000 reward offer

ActionSA welcomes the arrests of a 50-year-old woman and her 39-year-old partner for the murder of Nqobizitha Zulu (5) and Tshiamo Rabanye (6), following our offer of a R50 000 reward for anyone who has information that can lead to an arrest.

The arrest of the possible murderers behind the Soweto boys will hopefully help bring closure and justice for the Zulu and Rabanye families.

Importantly, ActionSA applauds the South African Police Service (SAPS) speedy progress in this regard.

The boys’ adduction while playing and their subsequent brutal murders puts into even sharper focus the degree to which our communities are left defenceless against rising crime.

Mandated by ActionSA in my capacity as the former City of Johannesburg Chief of Police and Member of the Mayoral for Public Safety, we reached out to Gauteng Police Commissioner Elias Mawela on Tuesday where he welcomed our offer for the R50 000 reward appreciating that it would contribute toward the speedy to apprehension of the suspects who committed this senseless crime.

ActionSA President Herman Mashaba had written to the Commissioner following our visit with the affected families in White City, a community with whom Mashaba shares a close relationship.

As a party committed to the rule of law, ActionSA will not rest until children can play safely play in the streets of our communities without fear for their safety, and that the order is restored in our society.
