Be careful of rogue elements threatening unity and progress – MKPYL

League address actions of former resident Bonginkosi Khanyile and former SG Minenhle Cibane

MKYL warns against rogue elements threatening unity and progress within its ranks

2 August 2024

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party Youth League (MKPYL) Interim Core has, for some time now, maintained a disciplined and restrained silence while focusing on uniting the Youth League and advancing the cause of the Party. However, we can no longer stand by as rogue elements within our ranks continue to undermine the unity and progress of the MKYL for personal glory.

It is with deep concern that we address the actions of former MKPYL President Bonginkosi Khanyile and former Secretary General Minenhle Cibane, who were officially removed from their positions on the 9th April 2024. Despite their removal, these individuals have persisted in setting up programs and speaking at events without any formal deployment. They currently hold no leadership office, and their actions are a direct defiance of the organisation's principles and a blatant undermining of the MKPYL in its entirety.

The MKPYL will not remain silent any longer. We will not tolerate the continued spread of propaganda and misinformation by these individuals and their associates, including the Party's Twitter administrators who have been fueling division and promoting factionalism within the Youth League. Let it be known that we are not an organisation of members who serve the interests of other members. We all subscribe to the principles, ideals, and appointments of the organisation, and we stand united in this regard.

We call on the leadership of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party to intervene immediately to prevent what could become a chaotic revolt within both the MKP and MKPYL. The current crisis is a grave threat to the efforts of the young people who have not only built this League but who are also the backbone of the MK Party.

We have been quiet for far too long, exercising maximum discipline in the face of these provocations. However, we can no longer stomach this crisis that undermines our collective efforts. The time has come to stand firm and defend the integrity of our organisation. We will not allow the self-serving agendas of a few individuals to derail the progress we have made in uniting and strengthening the MKPYL.

The MKPYL remains committed to the revolution and to the values that have always guided us.

We will continue to fight for unity, progress, and the rightful representation of the youth within the MK Party.
