BMF to discuss nationalisation, the land question

Conference will also look into whether it's morally correct for minority to occupy most top positions

BLACK MANAGEMENT FORUM (BMF) ANNUAL AGM, CONFERENCE AND ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS GALA DINNER ON 17-18 NOVEMBER 2011

The Black Management Forum (BMF) will be hosting its Annual General Meeting, Conference and Achievement Awards Gala Dinner, which has the theme "Economic Emancipation of the Majority - Key Ingredient for Sustainable Social Cohesion and Inclusive Economic Growth."

The conference will be held at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg on 17 - 18 November 2011, and the Achievement Awards Gala Dinner will be on Friday, 18 November 2011.

In dissecting these issues, the sub-themes will focus on:

The Land Question: Is the Section 25 Clause of willing buyer/willing seller enabling the Land Reform Programme? The recently released Green Paper on Land Reform - Critical Review; what are the Implications of Increased Land Ownership by Foreigners? 

JSE Ownership: In a country that is 90 % black, is it sustainable to have 
Black Nett Equity of less than 5 %? Does indirect ownership via pension funds provide black people any lever to direct the economy? Is the call for Nationalisation justified? Was the Offshore Listing a good thing?

Employment Equity: Is it morally correct for a small section (±10 %) of the population to occupy about 70 % of the top positions? How will the proposed amendments change the picture? Should white women continue to be part of the designated group?

Enterprise Development: When will the small black operators join the mainstream economy? How have other countries grown by integrating SME's? What will it take for the supply chain processes to open up to new players? What Is the role of banks and DFI's in assisting the transformation agenda?

A remarkable panel of guests will discuss the aforementioned Issues amongst conference speakers, BMF delegates and the audience, who will be addressed by distinguished academics, international speakers, business trailblazers and high level politicians. 
This conference is an opportunity to engage and dig deeper into the current debates in South Africa.
