Yesterday, 3 October 2022, Rand Water notified the City of Tshwane and other (City of Johannesburg and City of Ekurhuleni) about the implementation of Stage 2 water restrictions.

The water utility that it had noted over the last two weeks that water consumption had increased significantly, resulting a decline of their overall reservoir storage capacity from 52% to 38%, This necessitated Rand Water to implement, with immediate effect.

Stage 2 (30%) restrictions on several high-consuming customer meters within each municipality order to reduce the current high water consumption.

Rand Water further indicated that the restrictions are to ensure that their overall reservoir storage capacity is restored to 60%.

It is for the üve reason that the City Of Tshwane must cornply With Rand Water's directive by implementing Stage 2 water restrictions to prevent the water utility and the municipality's bulk water supply systems from collapsing and running dry.

Stage 2 water restrictions entail the following with immediate effect:

Do not irrigate or water gardens with a hosepipe or irrigation system.

Do not use a hosepipe to clean driveways or patios.

Do not wash vehicles with a hosepipe.

Do fill or up swimming or water features.

Stage 2 water restrictions also bring into effect the implementation of Level 2 water tariffs, as per the City's approved 2022123 financial year water tariffs.

In order to avoid reservofs running dry. resulting in water shortages and subsequent water supply interruptions, the City of Tshwane urges all residents to assist by decreasing their water consumption and continuing to use water sparingly.

The City wishes to thank residents for their understanding and efforts to use water sparingly so that reservoirs do not run dry, resulting in water shortages and water supply interruptions.
