EFF Gauteng province on the failure of the DA-led coalition in Tshwane to submit financial statements to the Auditor-General

The Economic Freedom Fighters Gauteng strongly condemns the DA-led coalition in the City of Tshwane for their failure to submit financial statements to the Auditor-General(AG) even when an extension was granted to the municipality.

The EFF views the failure of the Moonshot Pact to submit financial statements on time as a contravention of the Generally Recognized Accounting Practices(GRAP) and the Municipal Financial Management Act(MFMA) which requires compliance from municipalities to submit financial statements on time for an audit.

The City of Tshwane under the leadership of the DA has continuously asked for postponement in terms of submission, citing the need to address the findings made by the AG in the year 21/22. Yet this is just an attempt by the Coalition of Corruption in collaboration with the municipal officials to cook and configure the books to achieve a non-existent positive financial audit while they have dismally failed to manage the finances of the City since they assumed power.

The City of Tshwane has consistently received adverse financial audit reports, the latest being the RIO Billion on irregular expenditure in the previous financial year. The very same City has also topped the list of municipalities that have failed to honor their water and electricity bills.

To this point, the metro has failed to provide drinkable water to the people of Hammanskraal, to provide sanitation and waste collection services to the people of Mamelodi, Soshanguve, Atteridgeville, and all the Black-dominated areas, and to even pay municipal workers their basic wages.

The DA and ActionSA coalition in Tshwane is explicitly engaged in corruption and has completely collapsed the municipality. The EFF calls on the people ofTshwane to see DA what it is, a Corrupt, Anti-Black, Capitalist and neoliberal formation meant to secure the interests of White people in the expense of Black Majority.

The failure of the DA-led coalition submit the City's financial statements due to poor financial management directly affects the people of Tshwane in that it leads to financial losses and grant cuts from National Treasury, resources that are desperately needed to improve the infrastructure and provide services to the people of Tshwane.

The EFF also wishes to call out the leniency of the Auditor-General in dealing with the DA coalition in Tshwane. If this was a Black-led municipality, a decisive action would have been taken by now and the media would have made sure this issue makes it to the headlines. But because corruption must always be associated with the Black skin and everything clean must be White, this is a narrative the liberal system would like to advance and must be rejected with the contempt it deserves.

The EFF in Gauteng commends the EFF Caucus in Tshwane Council in holding the corrupt DA-led Moonshot Pact Coalition in Tshwane and we call on the Provincial and National Government to intervene on this municipality and ensure that administration is taken away from these thugs and the municipality goes back to the hands of the people.
