Decay in Sea Point and adjacent coastal regions must be stopped – FF Plus

Decay in Sea Point and adjacent coastal regions must be stopped

The FF Plus is seriously concerned about the decay in Cape Town's suburbs.

Sea Point and the Atlantic coastal region are deteriorating at an alarming pace, and immediate and decisive steps are needed to ensure the safety of residents and tourists, and to put an end to the decay.

While tourists and visitors marvel at Cape Town's natural beauty, there is hidden evil brewing.

Violent robberies and attacks, harassment, public indecency, and intimidation by street dwellers are getting worse by the day.

Attacks are clearly on the rise and authorities are not doing enough to keep people safe.

Cape Town has already been labelled one of the most dangerous cities in the country and its tourism industry cannot afford any more setbacks.

After recent events like the Cape Town marathon, which drew visitors from overseas, the feedback from visitors and participants about Cape Town's decay was very negative.

Homelessness and illegal structures are on the rise too. It is already on the verge of becoming a crisis and the situation must be turn around before it is too late.

In the FF Plus's view, there are too few law-enforcement patrols, like the Metro Council undertook to implement, in the urban areas.

It is time for the City to urgently engage with the police and compile an action plan to ensure residents' safety and stop the decay.
