Mayor Dan Plato welcomes easing of restrictions to adjusted Alert Level 2

'We note the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa to move the country to adjusted Alert Level 2, which further allows the economy to open as the national vaccination drive continues to be rolled out. The expanded trading times for businesses will assist in economic recovery as many businesses have been under severe strain, trying to adapt and survive in these very challenging circumstances. We have maintained that the only way to move beyond the pandemic and the national lockdown is to greatly expand the vaccination rollout. As seen in the statistics, those who are vaccinated experience greater protection against Covid-19, with significantly lower hospitalization and death,’ said Executive Mayor Dan Plato.
In Cape Town, we are continuing to play our part to assist with the ramping up of the national vaccine rollout after the opening of mass vaccination sites, with 3000 vaccination sites across the country.
The City of Cape Town urges all residents to please continue adhering to the regulations.
