ANC WCape Statement on the assault incident at our Offices

The ANC in the Western Cape acknowledges that there was an incident at our offices on Monday, 30 November 2015, which involved the Provincial Secretary and a staff researcher (see Facebook post below).

ANC officials met this morning, 02 December 2015, to discuss the incident and without discussing its merits, have decided to refer the matter to its Internal disciplinary process with the aim of speedily resolving the matter. 

The severity of the matter and its sensitive nature however has warranted certain decisions to be taken by the officials.

1. The Provincial Secretary has been put on precautionary leave pending the outcome of the internal disciplinary process.

2. The Current Deputy Provincial Secretary, Thandi Manikivana will be acting Provincial Secretary until the matter has been fully resolved.

3. The Staff Researcher remains on leave for the next two weeks.

The work of the Provincial office will continue to run as smoothly as it has been.
