Former ANC Mayor Mdu Banda welcomed to ranks – Francois Rodgers

DA KZN leader says mistakes and incompetencies of the ANC are things that will soon come to an end once the 2024 elections take place

DA officially welcomes former ANC Mayor while making inroads into rural KZN

4 December 2023

The Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal yesterday, 3 December 2023, officially welcomed former Kwa Sani Mayor and ANC member, Mdu Banda. In 2016 he was elected speaker of Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality following its formation through the amalgamation of Kwa Sani and Ingwe Municipalities.

During his address to those gathered at KwaPitela Community Hall, Banda said he's had time to reflect long and hard on the state of the country and politics and came to the realization that only the DA can rescue this country.

Furthermore, he expressed concern about the out-of-control rate of unemployment and lack of housing under an ANC which measures its success by the number of food parcels it hands out.

Banda says these are mistakes that must not be repeated.

Addressing the many new members who'd liberated themselves from the ANC, yesterday, and found a new home in the DA, Provincial Leader, Francois Rodgers, said mistakes and incompetencies of the ANC are things that will soon come to an end once the 2024 elections take place and the DA governs KZN alongside the IFP.

Rodgers said this isn't hard to imagine if one simply looks at the DA’s work in turning around Umngeni Municipality in just a few months of taking over from an incompetent ANC.

During yesterday's community gathering the DA also took the opportunity to engage EFF members who expressed a willingness to join the party.

At the start of the event, they had openly challenged the DA's vision and inroads in rural KZN, but later came to understand our plan to rescue this province.
