Government rejects speculations in Independent Newspapers
3 Nov 2010
Government has noted a report in various Independent Newspaper stables alleging, without any substance, that former Ministers Barbara Hogan of Public Enterprises and Geoff Doige of Public Works were replaced as Members of the Executive because they spoke out against corruption.
Government wishes to put it on record that changes to the National Executive, as announced by President Zuma on Sunday, 31 October 2010, were necessitated by nothing other than what President Zuma said when he made the announcement.
Amongst other things, President Zuma said the changes were introduced to strengthen the capacity of government to deliver on its mandate and to improve the quality of life of all South Africans, especially the poor.
President Zuma said: "We reiterate that we need a national executive and public service that knows where our people live, who fully understand the needs of our people and what we are trying to achieve.
