I am indeed not suspended - Marius Fransman

ANC WCape chairperson calls on all branches to note this, thanks comrades for clarification

I note the decision of the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) of the African National Congress in the Western Cape, “… that disciplinary procedures against the Chairperson, Comrade Marius Fransman, be expedited and that the caretakers should recommend to the National Executive Committee (NEC) that Comrade Marius be suspended until the conclusion of the disciplinary processes…”

This statement, issued on 29 August, confirms my position that I am not, in fact, suspended. I take note that the ANC Western Cape Secretary Faiez Jacobs have now publicly clarified that I am not suspended and thereby correcting and nullifying all his previous utterances stating the contrary.

Although this statement was refuted the next day, on 30 August, by PEC Provincial Head of Media and Communications Jabu Mfusi, with an apology to me for the harm and injury caused by the confusion, Western Cape NEC Caretaker Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba today confirmed Jacobs’s clear confirmation that I am not suspended by declaring publicly that the first statement, of 29 August, “was factually correct and reflected accurately the decisions of the PEC meeting held on 28 August.”

Both the Western Cape Secretary and the Western Cape NEC Caretaker have now publicly confirmed that I am not suspended.

I call on all Western Cape branches to note that I am not suspended and that I remain the duly elected Chairperson, unencumbered by factional disputes and orchestrated confusion.

I thank the comrades for their clarification and call on the duly elected Western Cape leadership to unite with me in working for the betterment of the people of the Western Cape, and also for the orderly management of the ANC in the Western Cape.

I call on all the structures to respect the Constitution, which remains our guiding light in protecting and promoting the ANC’s proud 104-year legacy of, amongst others, equality and fairness. The ugly public spats must end, for the people of the Western Cape, and the branches and the regions, and all the structures, deserve better; deserve to be served by a united ANC.
