Khusela Sangoni appointed as new ANC spokesperson

2 June 2016

Johannesburg - The ANC has appointed Khusela Sangoni as its new spokesperson, replacing Keith Khoza, who took up a position in the Gauteng provincial government.

She was a "seasoned communicator with extensive experience in public and private sector communications and media relations", the party said in a statement on Thursday.

Sangoni would work closely with the ANC NEC's sub-committee on communications and media-related policy."Sangoni is a long-standing ANC member and has served in various capacities in structures of the ANC, the ANC Youth League and the ANC Women’s League. She is currently a member of the ANC Gauteng Provincial Executive Committee," it said.

Sangoni came under fire on Twitter in March, when she downplayed EFF leader Julius Malema's receiving a BA degree from Unisa. She said the achievement was mediocre.

She later tweeted an apology, saying she valued "progression of black child & lifelong learning".
