"Mam Ruby's big Ben 10 kiss!" - Daily Sun

"Her message to women... don't be afraid to date young men!" - front page lead, October 23 2014

Daily Sun (October 23 2014) - GENERATIONS' Mam Ruby was a tough shebeen queen with a young Ben 10 by her side. Silindile Nodangala may have been dumped by Mzansi's most popular soapie but it seems she doesn't mind playing the part in real life.

THE SPIRIT OF MAM RUBY LIVES ON!

At the Icons Cultural Festival she gave maskandi artist Khuzani Mpungose a clear instruction: "Get off that stage, Khuzani, and come here because I want to kiss you, my Ben 10!" At the show in Clermont, Durban on Sunday where Silindile (42) was the MC, she surprised the crowd by grabbing Khuzani (25) and kissing him.

He had just performed and left the fans - especially the ladies - screaming for more.

The surprised singer hesitantly tried to avoid Mam Ruby but she was having none of it.

"Are you scared of me?" she asked Khuzani and then she kissed him on the cheek while he closed his eyes.

The crowd loved it. Guys whistled loudly and fans clapped their hands.

But Mam Ruby wasn't finished.

She told the DJ to shut down the music, took to the stage and said: "Wow! I enjoyed kissing this young handsome boy."

She called Khuzani a darling.

"You know I go for Ben 10s, ne?" she said.

"They are humble and understanding. Not like our peers."

Then she gave the older women in the crowd some advice.

"Let me tell you, people will criticize you when you date a younger person but don't listen to them.

"When a Ben 10 comes your way, just say yes," she said.

Some members of the crowd were not exactly thrilled.

"I'm not impressed with Mam Ruby's behaviour," one fan, Sibahle Ndlovu told Daily Sun. "She just wanted attention. There are children in the audience and she should have behaved better than that.

"But all she wants is to be in the newspapers so she encourages women to date boys."

Later Khuzani said he does not date older women.

"I will never go for sugar mamas. I see them as my mothers or my elder sisters," he said.

"It's not good for the youth to go after money by dating sugar mamas."
