Motsoaledi persists with NHI roadshow – Michele Clarke

DA MP says first engagements suggest this is nothing more than vehicle to coerce support for Act

Motsoaledi persists with NHI roadshow

19 August 2024

The DA notes that Health Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, is persisting with his National Health Insurance (NHI) roadshow, despite South Africa’s business community, health sector and stakeholders, and civil society being clear about their rejection of the destructive Act.

On the heels of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and the South African Health Professionals Collaboration’s (SAHPC) refusal to sign the second Presidential Health Compact, Minister Motsoaledi met with religious groups, worker unions, and provincial and local government in Polokwane to convince them that the NHI will not lead to the decimation of both the public and private health sectors.

The first engagements of the roadshow have done nothing to dispel the DA’s view that it is nothing more than a vehicle to coerce support for an Act that has been thoroughly rejected by South Africans.
