Millions spent to equip Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital

Chris Hani Baragwanath has been prioritised for equipment and R157 million is being spent to equip the hospital.
This morning, Gauteng Health and Social Development MEC Ntombi Mekgwe visited the hospital to assess the availability of equipment and hospital readiness for the arrival of the new CT scanners.
The challenges that were around the CT scanners at the hospital will soon be a thing of the past as two multi-detector CT scanners, 128 slice and 64 slice, that were ordered last year from Japan will be arriving tomorrow. Building alterations to accommodate the two scanners commenced on Wednesday, 2 March and they will be completed on Thursday, 10 March. We are anticipating that the machines will be installed by 17 March 2011.
