Minister of Energy welcomes the appointment of Ms Nokwe as Chief Executive Officer of PetroSA

The Minister of Energy, Ms Dipuo Peters, has welcomed Cabinet's endorsement of the appointment of PetroSA Board's preferred candidate Ms Nosizwe Nokwe to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PetroSA. "The Board is to be congratulated for demonstrating to PetroSA's peers that it is possible to find a competent woman to lead an Oil Company in this country" the Minister said.
Ms Nokwe brings to the organisation superb understanding of the industry coupled with experience of serving at the highest echelons of the public service. The new CEO will be central in steering PetroSA as it makes its contribution to Energy Security in the country. "We expect Ms Nokwe to serve as a role model for young women in the sector who can now see that the so called ceiling in liquid fuels has been broken forever" the Minister added. As soon as Ms Nokwe assumes duty, Minister Peters together with the Board of PetroSA will introduce Ms Nokwe in her new role to the public.
The Minister has also expressed appreciation to the Premier of Gauteng for agreeing to release the Director-General in the best interests of building a formidable National Oil Company.
The Minister of Energy also wishes to announce that Ms Sankie Mthembi-Mahanyele will assume the role of Chairperson of Central Energy Fund (CEF) with effect from February 2012. Ms Sankie Mthembi-Mahanyele brings with her experience of having served in the highest echelons of government as a Minister of Housing.
