Parts of Mahikeng burn as North West ANC prepares to meet with NWC
18 April 2018
Residents in Montshiwa in Mahikeng took to the streets on Wednesday, apparently to demand an end to Supra Mahumapelo's tenure as premier of the North West.
Tyres and buses have been set alight and roads have been blocked as protesters complained about the provincial leadership and service delivery.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Adele Myburgh told News24 that the protests erupted at about 06:15.
She said fire services extinguished burning vehicles and added that pupils threw stones and blocked roads.
