The front page and lead stories of SA's largest daily newspaper, March 26 2013

Daily Sun (March 26) - SANGOMA Alton Joja is dead. The sangoma who is believed to have planned the muthi ritual only days before the Marikana massacre came out of his front door and walked into a deadly hail of bullets. JOJA WAS EXPECTED TO TESTIFY AT THE MARIKANA COMMISSION IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. Now it is possible that the role of muthi in the massacre will never be known. Joja was struck by as many as 14 bullets from an R5 rifle and a pistol when he was killed execution-style in front of his homestead at Bizana, in the Eastern Cape, on Sunday. See the Daily Sun mobi site for more...

Gogo Sebengwane Ngobeni (87) from Chiawelo in Soweto was admitted to Leratong Hospital in Krugersdorp, west of Joburg, last week. When her family visited her on Saturday, she was fine. Her grandson, Patrick Mabasa, said the men told him to call them to make funeral arrangements. But after they left, he remembered that they had said his gogo died at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, which was not the hospital where she had been. They drove to Leratong Hospital and found their gogo sleeping peacefully. "The nurse told me it's a scam funeral parlours sometimes pull. They lie and say people have died and then go to the hospital to finish them off," he said. See the Daily Sun mobi site for more...
