Soweto clinic runs out of bandages, panado - Jack Bloom

DA MPL says patients being asked to buy, wash own bandages

BANDAGE SHORTAGE AT SOWETO CLINICS

This morning I visited the Lillian Ngoyi clinic in Soweto after receiving complaints of a bandage shortage. I found that they have been shortage of bandages for about a month, and have to borrow bandages from other clinics.

Some patients are asked to buy their own bandages or wahes bandages for re-use. Other Soweto clinics also experience bandage shortages, apparently because the supplier has not been paid.

Staff and patients are suffering because of this poor management. Incredibly, the clinic has also run out of panado.

It's appalling that basic items like bandages and panado are not being provided. I have requested Gauteng Health MEC Ntombi Mekgwe to rectify this unacceptable situation as soon as possible.
