FF Plus demands answers regarding suspension of Primaria for delivering Afrikaans speech at PUK
16 September 2022
The FF Plus is demanding answers from the Vice-Chancellor of the North-West University (NWU), Dr Bismark Tyobeka, regarding the alleged suspension of the Primaria of the Karlien ladies residence on the Potchefstroom campus (PUK) after she gave a speech in Afrikaans at a residence dinner.
If the allegations are true, the FF Plus will lodge a complaint with the Human Rights Commission (HRC) seeing as it amounts to blatant discrimination against Afrikaans.
The NWU has four official languages, namely English, Afrikaans, Setswana and Sesotho, and delivering a speech in any one of these languages is within the policy.
It is unfathomable that the Primaria was suspended. It comes down to nothing but bully tactics, discrimination and an attempt to oppress Afrikaans.
