Minister Zweli Mkhize confirms total of 559 858 cases of Coronavirus COVID-19

As of today, a cumulative total of 559 858 confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa have been recorded with 6 670 new cases identified.

The total number of tests conducted to date is 3 250 583 with 30 318 new tests conducted since the last report.

Reported Deaths and Recoveries

Regrettably we report 198 new COVID-19 related deaths: 80 from Eastern Cape, 32 from Gauteng, 63 from KwaZulu Natal and 23 from Western Cape, This brings the cumulative total of reported COVID-19 related deaths to 10 408

We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.

The number of recoveries currently stands at 411 147 which translates to a recovery rate of 73%.

Regrettably we report 301 new COVID-19 related deaths: 39 from Eastern Cape, 23 from Gauteng, 154 from KwaZulu Natal, 22 from Western Cape, 21 from North West, 5 from Northern Cape and 37 from Limpopo. This means we have breached the 10 000 mark, with 10 210 cumulative deaths now recorded.

The number of recoveries currently stands at 404 568 which translates to a recovery rate of 73%.

Regrettably we report 305 new COVID-19 related deaths: 57 from Eastern Cape, 136 from Gauteng, 76 from KwaZulu Natal, 29 from Western Cape and 7 from Northern Cape. This brings the cumulative number of deaths to 9 909.
