"Hallelujah! Satan takes a beating as noon passes - and Reanetse lives!" - Daily Sun

The front page and lead story of SA's largest daily newspaper, June 7 2013

Daily Sun (June 7 2013) - THE DEVIL'S deadline came - and went - at noon yesterday. And Reanetse Sebati is still alive! The schoolgirl sat silently waiting for death after a Satanist pupil at her school threatened that she would die at midday. BUT DEATH NEVER CAME! SATAN TOOK A BEATING!

Reanetse's mother Paulina, who refused to be intimidated by the threat, praised the Lord. "Satan has failed - Hallelujah! My daughter lives!" she cried to Daily Sun. She had spent the night praying that the curse of death against her daughter would not work. Fourteen-year-old Reanetse was also triumphant - and relieved.

She proudly walked with her mother through the school gates yesterday morning to write her exam as planned. But afterwards she said: "I'm glad I'm still alive, but I can never come back to this school."

The threat came after the schoolboy who put the devil's curse on Reanetse demanded that a Satanic ritual needed to be carried out if the girl was to live. This involved sacrificing a chicken on the Bible. Now the problem of the curse is with the governing body and principal of Illinge High School in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, the cops, and a department of education intervention team.
