Daily Sun (February 12 2014) - THE FAMILY was still struggling to come to terms with the gogo's brutal murder when a trembling man knocked on the door.
He confessed that he had robbed Gogo Sinah.
HE SAID HER GHOST HAD TOLD HIM TO BRING BACK THE MONEY!
"He told us he can't sleep at night because gogo kept on asking where her money was," said Dina Mashego, a relative of gogo Sinah More (85), whose badly decomposed body was found under the bed in her house in Ga-Rankuwa zone 3.
Said Dina: "The man was shaking. He said he was very sorry for what he did and wanted to confess so gogo would leave him in peace."
Mashego Mashego, another relative, said they didn't want to know how much money he had taken.
"We all agreed to go to the police station so he could tell his story to the cops," said Mashego.
When they got to the Ga-Rankuwa Police Station they found Warrant Officer Hendrik Senoamadi.
"The man told the cop everything, but instead of opening a case, the cop told us he couldn't arrest the suspect because he might commit suicide in the police cells," said Mashego.
Frustrated and disappointed, the family and the suspect went home.
It was only after the family informed Ga-Rankuwa cluster commander Brigadier Nicholas Sithole that the cops acted.
But by the time cops got to the suspect's house, he was gone!
Gogo Sinah was buried last Wednesday. She made a living from selling bottles to recycling companies.
Another relative, Joyce Motsepe, said they believed their aunt was killed for her money.
"We found her house ransacked and her clothes scattered all over. That shows us the person was searching for money,' said Joyce.
"We last saw her two weeks ago. She was a hard worker and would never ask for a cent from anyone. Neighbours knew she had money because she would send them to buy take-away food for her."
Joyce said the gogo used to keep money in the money-box in her bedroom.
"We found the lock broken and the box empty," she said.
Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi told Daily Sun a 24-year-old suspect handed himself in yesterday morning and confessed to stealing gogo's money.
"He only confessed to theft, not murder. The purse has been confiscated as an exhibit. A case of theft has been opened," he said.
Nkoadi said the initial inquest case is still under investigation and they are still waiting for post mortem result to find out how the gogo died.
