"Life after death for your 4-5!" - Daily Sun

"Sooner or later we’re all going to die" - front page lead, May 21 2015

Daily Sun (May 21 2015) - SOONER or later we’re all going to die.

But now there is a way for a man to get his 4-5 to live on long after he is gone.

ALL HE HAS TO SAY IS: YES, LET THE DOCTORS TAKE MY 4-5 WHEN I DIE!

“Don’t let your penis go to waste when you die. Somebody out there desperately needs it,” is the call from Professor Andre van der Merwe, the head of urology at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town.

“No matter the size or the race, as long as it works, your penis can improve another man’s life.”

Van Der Merwe was part of the team who did the world’s first successful 4-5 transplant in December last year.

Now it appears more and more desperate men have come forward to plead for a new manly weapon in good working order.

“Families are unwilling to send dead men to their graves without a penis,” said Van Der Merwe.

“Some families regard a penis as a very personal organ and find it strange to give it away to the next person to use.”

But he said that men donating penises would be heroes.

“They would be bringing joy to many desperate young men without these organs.”

Van der Merwe said many young men lose their penises every year due to botched traditional circumcisions.

According to reports, about nine men who lost their penises during traditional ceremonies have been on a waiting list for penises since 2010.

) While Van Der Merwe is very serious about the call to help desperate men, SunReaders on Facebook were not that sure.

Promise Motalaota said he wouldn’t donate his penis. “Mine is too small, unless I donate to guys from North West,” he said.

And Maropeng Ntlema asked: “What if there is life after death and I need it when I’m dead? No, I would rather take mine to the grave.”

Tlaishego Joseph said: “I can’t give it away. I’m not sure he will handle it with the care I do.”

Thabo Tee was shocked. “My 4-5 goes with me,” he said. I love you, my Dicksy. Pappa’s never going to leave you.”

Nothando Khuzwayo asked: “Why not? Everything else is being donated.”

Lenyora Putsoenyane said he will take his penis to the grave, while Motsamai Tladi said he doesn’t want to be buried with missing parts. Malose Magwai said it was against his traditional belief.

Kosie Makotyana believes, “God will ask me where my 4-5 is. My answer is NO!”

) Cultural expert Refiloe Khunou said according to African culture, it is unethical to give out organs. “Whatever God gives you is yours to use, not to give away.”

) Doctors are encouraging men to register their penises for donation as soon as possible. A dead man’s family cannot make the donation on his behalf.
