Daily Sun (July 23 2015) - KGOTSO couldn’t make up his mind whether to go and party with his friends or not.
But when he got a message from his wife saying she was missing him, he chose love over the celebration.
IT WAS A DECISION THAT SAVED HIS LIFE.
“I could have been dead if it wasn’t for the love I have for my wife,” said Kgotso Leeto (30), from Bothaville, Free State.He told Daily Sun that he had gone to a meeting on Sunday and his brother, Tshidiso Tilo (32) asked him to join him and three of his friends at a tavern. “We were coming from an ANC meeting and they needed to celebrate the outcome. I decided to go with them.”
But then one of the women we were travelling with told him she had got a message from his wife.
“The woman told me my wife was missing me and she wanted me at home,” said Kgotso.
“That made up my mind. My wife is my priority.”
Kgotso went home and the others went on to party in Orkney, which is about 50km from Bothaville.
The following morning he got the terrible news.
“Cops told me they were involved in a crash. I was told the driver lost control of the car and crashed. The vehicle caught fire,” he said.
Three of the four occupants were burnt to death and another is in a serious condition in hospital.
“If it wasn’t for the love of my wife, I may have died in the accident with my brother and his friends. They died a terrible death,” he said. Kgotso’s wife, Nomvula Motsemme (21) said they met last year and it was love at first sight. She said he is never late.
“Tshidiso was supposed to be home before 11pm and his cellphone was off so I sent one of the woman they were travelling with a Please Call Me,” said Nomvula. “I asked her to give my man a message and she did that. In a few minutes he was at home with me. I’m so happy he wasn’t involved in the tragic accident.”
Police spokeswoman Constable Kethabile Mofokeng said, “We are investigating a case of culpable homicide after three people died in a car crash. “Two women and a 32-year-old man in a VW Golf lost their lives. A male sustained serious injuries and is in hospital.”
