Daily Sun (March 18 2014) - It's a fight that's been going on for a long time, and it is not the first time it has led to violence in Lucas Ranoko's house. Lucas is determined that his daughter mustn't bring her lovers to his house. HE INSISTS IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT HIS DAUGHTER IS ALREADY 29 YEARS OLD!
"I know my daughter is an adult," said Lucas (58), from Mogale City on the West Rand.
"But I don't want her to be romancing and having sex with her boyfriend in my house in my presence.
She must find a place of her own if she wants to have a free life with her men. I won't accept this behaviour in my house."
On Saturday, Lucas' tough attitude led to the whole family, including his wife Dina Tlapu (52), his son Phillip Tlapu (25) and 29-year-old daughter Rebecca Tlapu ganging up on him and beating him up.
Lucas was arguing with Rebecca when his wife, Dina, threw a bucket of water in his face.
"I fell and they all started beating me.
"My daughter was sitting on me and my wife and my son were hitting me with their fists," he said.
They didn't stop until he was lying on the ground unconscious with blood pouring out of his mouth and nose.
When Lucas came round he phoned his brother and sister who called the cops and ambulance, which took him to hospital.
Lucas is now in hiding at the home of his sister, Becky Khumalo (44).
"My brother raised them and this is his reward," she said in tears.
Lucas said this is the second time he has been beaten up by his family.
In 2010 his daughter's boyfriend, a cop, beat him when he tried to tell him to take Rebecca to his home.
Lucas had to have an open scar on his head stitched.
He said on both occasions he opened cases with the Magaliesburg cops but the guilty parties were not punished.
Dina admitted she and the children had beaten up her husband.
"He doesn't allow the children any freedom," she said.
"On Saturday, he was swearing at them and we thought of teaching him a lesson."
Daily Sun spoke to both of Lucas' children but they declined to comment.
Magaliesburg police spokeswoman Constable Rebecca Mokale confirmed that a case of assault was opened at the station.
She said the suspects were arrested and appeared in court.
The police are investigating.
