"Red cards for Diski Divas!" - Daily Sun

"TV channel says cat fight wasn't set up!" - front page lead, May 13 2015

Daily Sun (May 13 2015) - MAYBE it was a set-up and maybe it wasn’t, but the screaming match between Wendy Parker and Nonhle Ndala on Kaya FM last week seemed very real.

It didn’t help when Katlego “Kat” Mohoaduba got involved and soon the shouting turned into a fight, including hot klaps.

FOR THE MOMENT THE SHARP NAILS OF THE DISKI DIVAS HAVE BEEN CLIPPED!

Yesterday a Daily Sun source said the whole incident was indeed staged to boost the ratings of the show, but Bongi Potelwa of Mzansi Magic said that allegation was false.

“This is untrue. The interview was supposed to be a regular publicity interview so it was not staged,” said Bongi.

Staged or not, the channel and producers are now trying to clean up a big mess.

“From our understanding of the events, the altercation between the three cast members resulted in Nonhle being physically struck and verbally abused by both parties. Nonhle did not respond with violence and left the scene of the incident soon thereafter,” said Potelwa. Yesterday Wendy Parker, wife of Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker, and former Big Brother Mzansi contestant Katlego “Kat” Mohoaduba were fired.

Nkateko Mabaso, Mzansi Magic director of local interest channels, said Connect TV, the producers of the show, decided to terminate the contracts of the two cast members.

“Mzansi Magic does not condone acts of violence and supports Connect TV’s decision to take immediate and significant action,” said his statement.

“While viewers will see both Parker and Mohoaduba over the next two weeks, they will not feature in the series beyond this point.”

Mabaso apologised to Kaya FM for the incident which occurred on their premises.

“It should have been a routine interview,” said his statement.

Nonhle has laid a charge of assault against Wendy, saying she will not allow herself to be violated.

Parkview Police Station spokesman Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha confirmed that the two accused handed themselves in at Parkview SAPS on Tuesday afternoon, following a call by the investigating officer.

“They were released on a warning to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrates Court later this week to face charges relating to the alleged assault,” said Ramovha.

When Kat was contacted for comment, she said she was fine but that she was in a meeting.

She promised to respond via email.

Then she stopped answering our calls and had not responded at the time of going to print last night.

Nonhle could not be reached for comment.
