Daily Sun (July 15 2013) - IT'S every mother's worst nightmare. A nanny who seems to love the child she has to look after . . . BUT ABUSES THE BABY WHEN NOBODY IS LOOKING.

"I thought this woman was happy with her job," said Puleng Maqalike (30), the mother of the nine-month-old baby. But now I believe the woman was possessed by evil."

By the time Puleng, the mother of little Omphilelerato from Dooren in Welkom, Free State, found out that her child had been beaten, bitten and had a broken leg, the nanny had already run away.

"Evil got into that young woman and she decided to chew my son's flesh. She choked him and broke his leg before sinking her teeth into his flesh," said Puleng.

Now the cops are looking for the evil nanny.

"I arrived home from work on Thursday and saw that my child's face was turning green," she said. "Because I believed the nanny was taking good care of my little boy, I didn't suspect her at all. I thought my child was suffering from some allergy so I took him to hospital. The nanny even helped me pack his clothes." But when she got to the doctor and removed his clothes she saw the bruises on her baby's body.

"The doctors told me my boy had been assaulted. The nanny apparently tried to strangle Omphilelerato, broke his leg and sank her teeth into his flesh," she said. "But when we got home, the nanny was gone."

Puleng works as a clerk at a mine and she was introduced to the nanny by her colleague. She employed the nanny to look after her firstborn full-time because she was at work most of the day. She said the nanny, who is in her early twenties, was humble and spoke in a soft voice. "She seemed to be such a gentle person," said Puleng. "I even bought her clothes and presents." Omphilelerato is recovering in the Welkom Mediclinic.
