Daily Sun (December 30 2013) - THIS sangoma was taught a lesson he will never forget.
"He makes me sleep with a snake," complained his wife.
BUT A STRONGER SANGOMA MADE HIM STRIP NAKED FOR A RITUAL TO STOP SNAKE POKING.
This happened in Zandspruit in Honeydew near Joburg in the early hours of Christmas Day.
Karabo Mashamba (42) had claimed that her husband Albert (52) had two big snakes, one that sleeps at her gate and another that sleeps with her.
She and her husband were sangomas, she said, but he never went to thwasa. She also said they were married for three years when he stopped sleeping with her five months ago after she gave birth to twins Karabo said that's when he started making her sleep with the snake.
When she complained to the community policing forum, its members went with her to consult sangoma Ntandoyeni Mosawupe, who was said to be the best in the area.
Mosawupe threw the bones and declared that the husband really was using snakes.
When Albert was brought to the sangoma's house, he denied using snakes. He only admitted using muthi to get customers for his sangoma services.
The couple then went home but soon after that Karabo returned, complaining that her husband was harassing her. An angry Mosawupe then drew a circle on the ground and ordered Albert to stand in it in front of residents!
He said he was going to take out the snakes and made Albert strip naked and take off all his beads in front of the crowd.
He sprinkled muthi all over the naked man and questioned him about the snakes.
But Albert said: "I don't have any snakes. I am not a witch. I just use muthi to get customers to come to me and nothing else."
After hours of sprinkling muthi and burning incense, the sangoma concluded his ritual, saying: "I hope he has learnt his lesson and keeps his snakes away from his wife."
A resident who didn't want to be named said: "Mosawupe is the best.
"We believe in him."
