DA wins seat off ANC in Polokwane

Opposition also runs ANC close in Ward 80 in Tshwane

The Democratic Alliance took a ward seat off the African National Congress in Polokwane in the by-elections held on Wednesday. Evelyn Wilson, of the DA, won in Ward 20 with 62.9% of the vote off a low (24%) poll. The DA also ran the ANC close in Ward 20 in Tshwane losing by a mere nine votes. See below.

The Inkatha Freedom Party held onto Ward 13 in Ulundi with 39.1% of the vote, down from 46.7% of the vote in 2011. The ANC meanwhile comfortably held onto another four ward seats (one of which was uncontested.) See Table 3 below.
