Daily Sun (June 19 2015) - MODISE LOVED house music, but on Saturday he played the gospel song Ba Tlogeleng.
Over and over, the words “Let them come to me, don’t deny them coming to me,” rang out in the tavern.
THEN AN ARGUMENT BROKE OUT . . . AND MODISE WAS STABBED TO DEATH!
“I believe my brother saw his death and was pleading with his God to forgive his sins and accept him through this song,” said Matshidiso Diboka (38).
She said she was celebrating Youth Day with her brother, Modise Ramokgele (36), at the local tavern in Botshabelo, Free State on Tuesday.
Matshidiso told Daily Sun that while she danced with her brother, there was a man watching them.
“Everyone looked happy except for that man. When the song ended, I went to my seat but when I looked back at my brother, he was on the floor, bleeding,” she said.
“The man came to me. I asked him what had happened to my brother but he started stabbing me with a sharp object and I ran outside.”
Matshidiso told Daily Sun that her brother loved house music.
“But that day he chose Johnny Mokhali’s gospel song Ba Tlogoleng at the jukebox although he was not a churchgoer. I think he saw his death before it came,” she said.
After the stabbing, the man handed himself over to the cops.
Matshidiso said she was stabbed four times in the upper arm and believes the man was targeting her heart.
“The song will always remind me of my loving brother, Modise,” said Matshidiso.
Vuyisile Gqirana, a relative of the owner of Sipho’s Tavern said he was at the shop when Modise was stabbed.
“I manage the tavern because the owner is now in jail. I was shocked to hear that someone had died in our tavern,” said Vuyisile.
Police spokeswoman Constable Sinah Mpakane said a 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
“He will appear in the Botshabelo Magistrates Court today,” said Mpakane.
