I trusted him, but he raped me!

Daily Sun (August 31 2015) - THE YOUNG woman told Daily Sun that a man asked her to help him move a washing machine, but that wasn’t all he wanted.

The man raped her and then tried to kill her but she fought back.

HE RAPED ME BUT HE CAN’T KILL ME, SHE SAID.

The 21-year-old victim, who cannot be named, said the suspect was a family friend and she trusted him.

“This man who was like a brother to me has destroyed my life,” she said.

She said when he forced himself on her she screamed but he forced a dishcloth into her mouth.

The victim, a mother of a three-year-old daughter, who had gone back to school to upgrade her matric results, said she pleaded with the rapist to let her go but he refused.

“I told him I was worried about my daughter and who would take care of her. He told me he would fetch my daughter from the creche and kill her too! He said he would dump her body next to mine in the veld.”

She said he then grabbed a hammer and started hitting her with it.

“I knew I had to fight back or die,” she said.

They struggled for possession of the hammer. She managed to get hold of it and she hit him with it.

He stabbed her with a knife and he tried to tie her up with a length of rope, but she managed to get the gag out of her mouth and screamed so much that he ran away.

According to Katlehong police spokesman Captain Mega Ndobe the 21-year-old victim then managed to escape.

“She fell down in the street next to two men she knows, who helped her get back to her house,” he said.

Angry residents went in search of the suspect but they couldn’t find him.

A neighbour said the suspect was out on parole after he was sentenced for murder in 1997.

“I thought he was a better man,” said the neighbour.

“He once told me that he would not go back to jail again because he had learned his lesson.”

On Thursday morning, angry neighbours burned down the suspect’s house.
