Dig, dig, dig! mlungu spirit tells gogo and team – front page lead, August 17 2015
Daily Sun (August 17 2015) - THE GHOST of the mlungu didn’t come to haunt her.
It came to tell her to dig for treasure – and it’s a ghost in a hurry.

Gogo Xolile Hadebe (59), from Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, said she never met Jan before he died. He first visited her in her dreams in 2012.
That’s when he instructed her to go to KZN and collect three stones from the Ncome River, known as Blood River.
Since then she has been able to see Jan, the restless spirit, clearly.
Recently he told her he knew where treasure was buried. He instructed her to go to a place in the veld in Alrode, Ekurhuleni and told her to dig.
He told her the treasure includes the famous missing Kruger millions and also gold and platinum.
The gogo, with six helpers, has been digging furiously but so far they haven’t found anything.
But they know they are close because Jan tells her so, and if they don’t work hard enough, Jan comes and pinches her.
Daily Sun visited the team at their hole in Alrode, near Katlehong, Ekurhuleni on Fridaywith Ekurhuleni officials, including mayor Mondli Gungubele.
Xolile told Gungubele all she wanted from him was permission to complete their quest.
Gungubele couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the hole. He instructed officials to investigate and give him a full report with recommendations for dealing with the situation.
Gogo and her group insisted they were true treasure hunters.
Xolile said Jan had told her the men would come to help before she even met them.
“We have been digging since December, carefully following Jan’s instructions,” she said. “We’ve been digging using compressors, a generator, buckets and a pump to get the water out of the hole. These we funded from our own pockets.”
She said Jan tells her they’ve reached the bottom where the treasure is hidden. “We hope to finish soon.”
But Jan also gave strict instructions on how the treasure is to be shared between Xolile, the men helping her and poor families.
And she said she’d follow these instructions to the letter, seeing that the spirit pinches her until she’s black and blue if she doesn’t follow instructions.
Once the work is done, seven cows need to be ritually slaughtered before the money can be used.
What Jan hopes to get out of the treasure hunt is to rest in peace. Once the treasure has been found, his soul will rest peacefully in his grave.
