Statement of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation on utterances of the ANCWL

We have noted today’s statement of the African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) issued by the League’s Secretary General, Meokgo Matuba, in which, as is the right of the ANCWL, the organisation faithfully and dutifully defends the Gupta family among other personalities. In doing so, the ANCWL repeats the baseless allegation that President Mbeki “formally introduced” the Gupta family to President Jacob Zuma.

We would like to refer anyone who might be interested in the matter to a statement we issued two days ago on April 11, 2016 in which we refuted the allegation.

The only thing we would like to add, which we hope the Secretary General and the entire leadership of the ANCWL will internalise, is that lies have never saved anyone because lies have short legs!
