"Goat poker on the run!" - Daily Sun

"Poor Lithuli must say goodbye to his favourite goat Pinky... and her rapist didn't even pay damages!" - front page lead, October 13 2014

Daily Sun (October 13 2014) - FOR MANY nights Lithuli thought the noise in the kraal was because the goats were fighting. Then, one night, he took a torch and went to look . . .

HE FOUND A MAN KNEELING BEHIND A GOAT, HOLDING ITS FEET AND RAPING IT!

And it wasn't the first time!

Lithuli Shimi (42) of Winterveld, near Mabopane, north of Tshwane caught the man and took him to a community leader, where the construction worker allegedly confessed he had been raping the goat for some time.

The man promised he would pay Lithuli R5 000 for raping Pinky the goat, but he has since disappeared.

"Pinky is ignoring her two babies, which are only a few weeks old and still need to be fed," he said.

Lithuli told Daily Sun that for some weeks he had been hearing strange sounds coming from the goat kraal.

"I heard the goats crying, but I thought they were just playing or breaking things the way that goats do," he said.

"But on 29 September I was watching TV and my son told me the goats were crying and complaining about something," said Lithuli.

"I went to see what was going on."

He said the goats were gathered in a corner of the kraal, trembling and crying in fear. In the other corner he saw a human being kneeling down and raping his goat Pinky.

"I could not believe my eyes!" said Lithuli.

"I shouted and the man tried to run away but I chased him. I called my neighbours and he was caught."

He said angry neighbours beat the man up and took him to a community leader in the area.

The rapist said he would pay. R5 000 for the goat. He pleaded not to be arrested and even wrote and signed a confession.

"But now he has fled and Pinky has became sick and anti-social," said Lithuli.

The goat doesn't seem to be getting over the trauma and on Saturday, Lithuli called the SPCA.

SPCA Inspector Meshack Matlou said that the goat was being treated by doctors.

"We have opened a case of bestiality against the man and we will know the state of the goat after we get the doctor's test results," he said.

Police Constable Petunia Chabangu said a case of bestiality was been investigated.

"We are searching for the suspect," she said.
