Gwede Mantashe wrong about Zelda la Grange - Anton Alberts

FF Plus MP says the ANC's targeting of whites, and 'white domination', is not helping the country

Gwede Mantashe and the ANC is wrong about Zelda La Grange

The ANC's absolute over-reaction to that which Zelda La Grange had said on Twitter about President Jacob Zuma is indicative of a party which is out of touch with the people of South Africa and the future which they want, Adv. Anton Alberts, the FF Plus' parliamentary spokesperson on economy said.

La Grange said, amongst others, that she is sick of Zuma targeting white people and he makes it clear that white people are not welcome in South Africa.

Adv. Alberts says research has repeatedly shown that the majority of the country's residents are concerned about the future because poverty is not addressed properly. He says Mantashe and the ANC have gotten stuck in the past and the creation of a fictitious history to get at whites does not contribute to the solving of the country's problems (see Sapa report).

"Gwede Mantashe's obsession to get rid of white domination is an absolute misnomer as whites have for a long time not been governing and the ANC is in control of what the future would look like. The question is whether black domination is the answer according to the ANC's arguments.

"There are two core problems in South Africa. It is economic disenfranchisement for the majority of black people and political disempowerment of all minorities.

"The solution is therefore clearly that minorities and the black majority should take hands to solve the economic problems and this can only be done if minorities are allowed to share power on a political level.

The debate should therefore be about power-sharing and economic empowerment rather than painting each other with a racial brush. If we are not going to succeed in doing that, the future will unfortunately be one of increasing division. As the popularity of the ANC decreases due to a lack of economic growth and its inability to eradicate poverty, it increasingly tries to desperately cling to power through racial polarisation," Adv. Alberts says.
