Daily Sun (July 21 2014) - THE nation was supposed to celebrate the birthday of its greatest son . . .

Instead it's mourning the brutal acts against children by evil adults in a weekend of violence.

A BOY WAS DRAGGED TO DEATH NEXT TO A HIJACKED CAR, TWINS WERE POISONED, A CHILD IS MISSING AFTER A HIJACKING. Chantel Morris (37), as she always did, took her two children to visit their grandmother on Saturday and decided to call in at McDonald's for a special treat. But as she stopped at an intersection in Reiger Park, Boksburg, Ekurhuleni two armed men approached her VW Golf 6 Gti. "I told the men to take everything they wanted but pleaded with them to leave my children," cried the devastated mother. "The men pulled me out of the car and when I tried to take my son, they drove off.

My son was hanging on the outside of the car, caught  up in the seat belt." Four-year-old Teagran was dragged outside the car. When the abandoned car was found in Boksburg about 8,5km away, the dead body of the boy was still attached to the seat belt. Police said three suspects are on the run. Chantel said her son died a very painful death. "My eight-year-old daughter and I stood helplessly as we saw the boy being driven away, crying for help," she said.

"My son was a loving child. He would always give anything to anyone. He used to tell people close to him that he would give them his dad's car one day." She said the gap this leaves in her family will never be filled.  "I can't imagine life without him," said Chantel. Teagran's father, Elwin Morris (34), said he was with his wife and the children at their gogo's house.

"I left the house to buy groceries. Before I got to the shops my wife called me," said Elwin. "I rushed to the scene. My wife was in tears and my daughter was hysterical."  Elwin said he phoned the police and radio station to help spread the news about the hijacking. "People called to tell us they had found a car that matched our car near the Boksburg Mall. "We were heartbroken to see him dead when we arrived at the scene." Lieutenant-Colonel Khensane Magoai said no arrests had been made yet. "We are still searching for the suspects."

At a press confrence late yesterday afternoon, cops said a R50 000 reward would be given to anyone who helps them with information which could lead to the arrest of the suspects. Cops also established a task team to investigate the case.
