THE HELEN SUZMAN FOUNDATION (HSF) HAS APPOINTED A NEW DIRECTOR.
The Trustees of the Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF) are pleased to announce the appointment of Nicole Fritz as its new Executive Director. Nicole, who will formally begin her role on 1 January 2022, will succeed Francis Antonie who shall be retiring at the end of this year, having served our Foundation with distinction over a period of 11 years.
Nicole comes to us having already played an executive or leadership role in several prominent civil society organisations over her career. She has been the executive director of Freedom Under Law (FUL) since April 2015. Prior to that she was the executive director of the Southern African Litigation Centre (SALC) and she currently serves on the board of the Three2Six project. Nicole has a LLB from Wits University and an LLM from NYU.
We believe that Nicole will be a purposeful new leader of the HSF. She has a demonstrated history of promoting and protecting the rule of law and constitutionalism in southern Africa, values which we hold dear. Armed with these qualities, we look forward to her charting a direction for the Foundation which preserves the values and moral leadership of Helen Suzman while re-invigorating the HSF’s engagement with South African society.
As we welcome Nicole, I would once again like to pay tribute to Francis’s stewardship where his time will be remembered for HSF’s ground-breaking litigation and fearless fighting of corruption.
