"Revenge from the grave!" - Daily Sun

The front page and lead story of SA's largest daily newspaper, June 10 2014

Daily Sun (June 10 2014) - ONLY a year ago they were living in their beautiful house.

But vutha and other evil events have destroyed their lives and burnt down their home.

ALL THE FAMILY MEMBERS ARE NOW FORCED TO SLEEP IN THE OUTSIDE TOILET.

But the vutha isn't finished with them yet!

After burning down the house and forcing the family to live in a small room outside, yesterday the vutha attacked that room as well.

The trouble started for the Mhlongo family from Mfundo Park in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, when their daughter's friend died in September last year.

First, their wet washing on the line caught fire without any explanation and later their wallets, with their money and phones, started disappearing.

They believed a big rat that was seen in the house took their things.

But that was before the vutha attacked their house.

Alfred Mhlongo (55) from Mfundo Park in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni told Daily Sun the fire would jump up without warning.

"Suddenly the furniture would just catch fire," he said.

He said their problems started when their daughter (16) was accused of poisoning her friend.

"My daughter even tried to commit suicide because people were calling her a killer," said Alfred.

He said after his daughter's friend died, a sangoma told them their daughter would die in 14 days time if she was responsible for the death.

"Those two weeks were terrible but our daughter didn't die - and that's when our real nightmare began," he said.

"We were told the dead girl's family did rituals on the girl's body."

Alfred said they have sought help from different sangomas and pastors but they all run from the house.

He said last Thursday a pastor went into the burnt house to pray. Later he came out and while he was talking to the family his Bible disappeared.

"The pastor went back into the house to pray but a creature hit him with a brick on his head. He came out of the house with blood on his face and said he would come back but we haven't seen him since."

Alfred said his family doesn't know what a normal day is any more.

"We live in fear," he said.

"If we are not attacked by a mysterious creature that throws rocks at us, our shoes go missing or the vutha strikes."

The mother of the dead girl told Daily Sun the child was her only daughter.

She believes Alfred's daughter convinced her daughter to drink rat poison as part of a suicide pact. She said her daughter drank the poison but Alfred's daughter didn't.

"My child is not resting in peace. She is very angry. She is taking revenge in her own way," said the mother.

"I feel sorry for the Mhlongo family but that won't change anything." She said they would take the Mhlongo family to the grave to apologise.

Daily Sun sangoma

Ntsimb'edlezinye Ngema said the family is being targeted by an evil creature.

"They must deal with this before the creature starts killing them," said Ngema.

Spokesman for the Vosloorus SAPS Captain Piet Rossouw confirmed a case of murder was opened and later changed to inquest.
