SATAWU welcomes the resignation of Ephraim Mphahlele
SATAWU notes and welcomes the resignation of Ephraim Mphahlele from the position of president and member of the union. His resignation comes at a time that the union was going to convene its CEC to decide on his conduct in bringing the union into disrepute and plunging the union into a crisis mode. We are glad that with him out of the union SATAWU would be brought into stability and normality. We are however concerned that his conduct and the conduct of his ilk had inflicted an indelible pain into the union by his attempts to liquidate the union through his involvement into conspiracies that up to date he cannot prove.
Because of Mphahlele the union is currently being sued by various organizations that he had attacked and slandered without the mandate of the union. He has continuously backed and supported the corruption and ill-discipline of his two prodigal protégées who also now have been expelled by the union. His resignation is not a surprise; in fact he is trying to save his face because he knows that the CEC delegates were certainly going to pass a motion of no confidence into him.
All the purported allegations that he has raised against the General Secretary of the union are falsified in the most malicious manner. They are nothing but an obfuscation of a sore bitter looser who failed to lead the union at the time it needed him most. We wish not to validate his confused claims raised in his press statement by responding to them, as none of them are valid. Even the press will not take such concocted junk into consideration.
His resignation does not let him a free man from the slanders he had committed against the union and its leadership. Apart from recovering its assets that he has abused since his election into office, SATAWU is currently considering suing this character due to the reputational damage he has caused on its image and that of its leaders also in their individual capacity.
