"Goal of death!" - Daily Sun

The front page and lead story of SA's largest daily newspaper, October 28 2013

Daily Sun (October 28 2013) - AS Saturday's derby was playing on the TV screen the siblings started to argue. After the match the argument turned into a screaming match and the screaming turned into a bloody fight. NOW THE SISTER IS IN THE HOLDING CELLS . . . AND THE BROTHER IS DEAD!

Apparently the two siblings, the 33-year-old sister, a Kaizer Chiefs supporter, and her 37-year-old brother, an Orlando Pirates fan, were watching the game at their house in Tladi, Soweto. After the game they carried on drinking and arguing. Then the argument turned to the equalising goal scored by Kaizer Chiefs, the goal many fans across Mzansi believe was off-side - and the argument turned violent.

The sister jumped up, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her brother. He collapsed in a pool of blood as his sister ran from the house. She was missing for the whole night.

She was arrested yesterday morning after a case of murder was opened. Daily Sun visited the family of the suspect and the dead man but they refused to comment.

Soweto cop spokesman, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela, confirmed that there was an incident on Saturday evening in which a man was stabbed to death after an argument over the soccer match.

Makhubela said: "The woman was arrested on a charge of murder and is expected to appear in the Protea Magistrates Court soon."
