Daily Sun (June 10 2013) - COPS came into the flat and found a filthy room equipped for the bogus doctor to perform illegal procedures. But the desperate 19-year-old girl never got to swallow the killer pills to abort her five-month old foetus. THE MAN AND HIS ASSISTANT WERE TAKEN AWAY IN THE BACK OF A COP VAN!
It was a race against time for Jabulani cops in Soweto when the girl's boyfriend arrived at the cop shop. He knew that his girlfriend had gone to the man's Jabulani flat to kill the five-month-old foetus inside her.
The 29-year-old so-called "doctor" from Uganda was bust on the spot in the room. Cop spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said the man ran a fully functioning surgery. "We found a variety of tablets and equipment used to abort pregnancies. We also found pamphlets claiming to heal men's and women's problems, including HIV symptoms and lung infections," he said. "From what we've heard from locals, the man performed as many as 10 abortions a day."
He said from the pamphlets it was clear he also operates as a herbalist, offering to help chase away tokoloshes and bring back lost lovers. He also offered help with court cases, jobs and marriage issues, as well as help to make people beautiful. A neighbour confirmed that many teenage girls had recently been seen going in and out of the flat for help to get rid of their unwanted babies.
"Our problem is that this man is not licensed or qualified. We don't even know where he dumped the babies. Some clients come heavily pregnant and he doesn't turn them away. All he wants is the money," said a local mum.
Makhubela said cops were not aware of the illegal abortion clinic but raided the flat soon after bring alerted. The man will appear in the Protea Magistrates Court soon for contravening the Medical Act.
