Daily Sun (September 11 2013 ) - THE HOUSE at No 9 Molotlegi Street has always been a mystery to neighbours. Over 30 years, they say, the Malatji family who live there have often raised eyebrows with their strange behaviour. BUT ON MONDAY, MYSTERY TURNED TO HORROR . . .
Cops stormed into the house in Atteridgeville, outside Tshwane, and found a naked man playing with a decomposing body ! They said they had been alerted by Kentridge Malatji (27), a grandson of the owners, at 4pm on Monday.
But it took cops until 9.30pm to gain entrance. They had to break through the iron gates, then force their way through the front door.
What greeted them could have come straight out of a Hollywood horror movie.
They found the naked man - described as "young" and "hairy" - sitting in the lounge next to the rotting corpse of a man.
Apparently the young man couldn't speak but kept playing with the body - and he refused to let cops remove it.
It also took three burly officers to put the struggling man into a cop van.
Inside the house police also found two middle-aged women.
They also resisted the cops, but were eventually taken in for questioning.
Shocked and angry neighbours shouted: "Hamba Zombie, Hamba Zombie!" as the vans drove off.
The Malatji family are reputed to be academics, with one son who is a lawyer and another who is a teacher.
The mystery of the horror house deepened when neighbours told Daily Sun that in September last year they saw a mortuary van collect two bodies from No 9 Molotlegi Street.
They were baffled when no funerals took place after that.
They also said the last time they saw the Malatji parents was last year.
Cops told Daily Sun they thought the mysterious dead man had been there for about two weeks.
Atteridgeville police captain Thomas Mufamadi said investigations were continuing and no charges have been laid.
Neighbour Joel Matlala, who has been living in the same street as the family for the past 25 years, told Daily Sun they have never greeted him or said a word to him.
