Daily Sun (February 16 2015) - DUDUZILE WAS finally discharged after a long, painful year in hospital.
She was weak and tired but happy to be home at last . . . but then she got the bad news.
DUDUZILE HEARD FROM HER NEIGHBOURS THAT SHE WAS DEAD!
"While I was in hospital my sister came to me every day. I thought she was coming to see me because she loved me. But she was a hyena dressed in a sheep's skin," said Duduzile Khumalo (52), from Dube in Soweto, who worked for the City of Joburg as a clerk in the department of health for 26 years.
Duduzile said her sister kept on telling her she should take early retirement as she wouldn't be able to work again when she came out of hospital.
"She came to the hospital with papers.
"She said my office had asked me to sign them. After I signed the papers I never saw Lungile again."
She said when she came out of hospital, she heard from the neighbours that her sister and her mother had told them she had died.
"And Lungile had even cheated me out of my benefit package at work!" said Duduzile.
She went back to her workplace but there she found she had lost her job because Lungile had delivered papers that Duduzile had signed saying she was unable to move.
They told Duduzile the documents were complete and signed and they gave Lungile the money.
Duduzile found out she and her two daughters were left with nothing.
Lungile was arrested for fraud. Duduzile showed Daily Sun a police document with the case number.
Duduzile said her 79-year-old mother, who is frail and lives in an old age home, is innocent.
"She had no influence over Lungile.
"I used to take care of Lungile when she was a little girl and my mother was in prison."
She said Lungile bought a Kia Sportage with the money she got from the City.
"The police helped me to get the car, but I deserve more than that for the 26 years I worked," she said.
Daily Sun tried to speak to Lungile, but she said: "So Duduzile is taking me to the newspaper now?"
First she refused to say anything, saying she would not comment on the allegations because the case was in court.
Then she said she had been found not guilty, but still said: "I am not going to talk to you guys!"
Then she ended the call.
Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant Kay Makhubela confirmed that the matter is still under investigation.
