Minister says further 52 deaths have been reported, 25 from Gauteng

Minister Zweli Mkhize confirms 1 168 more cases of Coronavirus COVID-19

As announced by His Excellency President MC Ramaphosa, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in South Africa is 1 513 393 with 1 168 new cases identified since the last report.

Regrettably, we report a further 52 COVID-19 related deaths: Eastern Cape 4, Free State 4, Gauteng 25, Kwa-Zulu Natal 2, Limpopo 0, Mpumalanga 0, North West 0, Northern Cape 0 and Western Cape 17 which brings the total to 49 993 deaths

We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased patients.

Our recoveries now stand at 1 430 259, representing a recovery rate of 94,5%
