Mr G R Morgan (DA) to ask the Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs:
(1) (a) How many (i) white rhinos and (ii) black rhinos have been killed by poachers since 1 January 2011 and (b) where were they killed in each case;
(2) how many rhino poachers have been apprehended by authorities since 1 January 2011;
(3) whether she has found that the war against rhino poaching is being won; if not, why not; if so, on what grounds;
(4) whether her department has launched any new initiatives to curb rhino poaching since 1 January 2011; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?

(3) No. Until such time there are no more rhinos killed I can say we are winning the war. However, we are recording many successes in this war against rhino poaching. The number of arrests this year alone gives an indication that our efforts to fight this are bearing results.
(4) Yes. Support of the SANDF members in the border of the Kruger National Park and Mozambique.
